How a comfort topper changes the way a mattress feels

By Angel Sleep · Reviewed by Dr. Mark Yezak, DC · Updated

Short answer: the Angel comfort topper adds a plush layer on top of the Angel Bed. On its own the mattress is medium-firm, 6 to 7 out of 10. With the topper it sleeps soft, 9 to 10 out of 10 on softness. The five-zone support underneath does not change.

The mattress layers and the topper are different things

The Angel Bed already has comfort layers built in, the CloudLift System: 3″ HaloQuilt quilt foam, 2″ soft foam, 2″ Qualatex latex and 2″ WingSpring micro-coils, over the 8″ CelestialCore five-zone coils. Those layers are sewn into the mattress. The comfort topper is a separate piece that sits on top and can be taken off.

Who usually prefers the topper

  • People who like a soft, plush surface.
  • Many side sleepers, who often like more give at the shoulder and hip.
  • Anyone moving from a pillow-top mattress who misses that feel.

Who may not need it

If you like a supportive, medium-firm bed, the Angel Bed is complete without it. Every Angel Sleep System includes the topper, and you can leave it off.

Sizes

The topper comes in Queen, King and Split King. The Split King topper is two pieces, one for each half.

Try both feels

The quickest way to know is to lie on the Angel Bed with and without the topper at a Texan Mattress showroom.
